The Path Forward – Operations Team met on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 9:35 a.m. in the Nebraska Room (#335) of the IMU.  Team members in attendance were: Rod Lehnertz, Barry Butler, Carroll Reasoner, Kevin Ward, Steve McGuire, Bruce Harreld, Elesa Wedemeyer, Steve Fleagle, Laura McLeran, Don Szeszycki, Andrew Namanny, Tiffani Shaw, Lena Hill and Ted Yanecek.  Guests were in attendance: Diane Slusarski, John Laverty, Cheryl Reardon and several members of the Talent@Iowa - HR Task Force.

The minutes of the July 5, 2016 meeting were distributed along with the meeting agenda.

Cheryl Reardon, chair of the Talent@Iowa – HR Task Force presented their draft recommendations.  Cheryl outlined the four principle findings and the recommendations related thereto:

  1. HR as a strong strategic partner with leaders
  2. Optimize HR IT systems and data strategy
  3. Modernize talent management
  4. Balance standardization and flexibility

President Harreld noted the structural implications associated with the findings and recommendations and urged prompt action.

In the remaining time sub-committee reports were received.  Health & Wellness and Campus Safety may have formal recommendations to bring to the full OT at the September meeting.  Rod asked the subcommittee chairs to notify him if their subcommittee would have a recommendation for the full committee to consider so that sufficient time is reserved for discussion. 

The Team meeting adjourned at 11:05 a.m.
