The Path Forward – Operations Team met on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at 9:35 a.m. in room B5 JH.  Team members in attendance were: Rod Lehnertz, Barry Butler, Carroll Reasoner, Don Guckert, Kevin Ward, Steve McGuire, Erin Brothers, Elesa Wedemeyer, Ron Weigel, Georgina Dodge, Steve Fleagle, Terry Johnson, Laura McLeran, Peter Matthes and Ted Yanecek.  Two guests were in attendance: Diane Slusarski and Brian Dickey.

The minutes of the June 6, 2016 meeting were distributed along with the meeting agenda.

Brian Dickey from University ITS presented the Path Forward website currently in development.  Laura McLeran also reviewed the process for developing content for the website to report on SIT and OT activities and recommendations.  Suggestions for the website and communications plan were discussed and additional comments solicited.

Sub-committee Reports were received from Academic Affairs, Diversity & Inclusion, Parking & Transportation (P&T), and Safety on Campus. Terry Johnson reviewed several recommendation from the P&T subcommittee.  P&T will solicit additional input and return to the OT.  Barry took the opportunity to review the Path Forward process (the “Golden Wheel”).  Rod asked the subcommittee chairs to notify him if their subcommittee would have a recommendation for the full committee to consider so that sufficient time is reserved for discussion.  Carroll Reasoner reported on a recent decision of the Iowa Civil Right Commission that will impact the operation of Nite Ride requiring Nite Ride to accommodate both female and male passengers.  UIPD has ordered equipment which will utilize a smart phone “app” which will enable a student to request a Nite Ride ride and assist UIPD in routing/scheduling.
