The Path Forward – Operations Team met on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 9:42 a.m. in the Nebraska Room (#335) of the IMU. Team members in attendance were: Rod Lehnertz, Barry Butler, Kevin Ward, Steve McGuire, Bruce Harreld, Laura McLeran, Don Szeszycki, Andrew Namanny, Tiffani Shaw, Lena Hill, Tom Rocklin, Georgina Dodge, Terry Johnson, Erin Brothers, Anh Ngo, Ron Weigel, Carroll Reasoner, Sarah Vigmostad, John Laverty and Ted Yanecek. Diane Slusarski also attended the meeting.
The minutes of the September 6, 2016 meeting were distributed along with the meeting agenda.
Kevin Ward provided an update on the FLSA changes and UI actions in response thereto.
Rod Lehnertz asked sub-committees chairs to notify him or Ted Yanecek prior to OT meetings if they have a recommendation(s) for review by the entire Team. Sub-committee chairs reported on recent activities. Georgina Dodge reported on the formation of the Campus Inclusion Team (CIT). Terry Johnson reported on recommendations of the Parking and Transportation subcommittee. Health and Wellness – Steve McGuire indicated his subcommittee meets bi-weekly and should have additional recommendations for the full OT to review by the end of the semester. Andrew Namanny noted a desire for one-stop shopping for mental health care services.
Carroll Reasoner reported on several issues that were investigated by the Campus Safety sub-committee – expansion of Nite Ride to all genders (accomplished), UI inclement weather policy review, request for UIPD to carry naloxone for opioid overdose, UIPD coverage of west campus. Upon investigation it was determined no further action was warranted by the OT. She also noted a request to provide notification of crimes on all area properties (not simply UI property) would be fraught with difficulty. And finally that a request to install additional lighting on campus was an issue being addressed by another campus group (which includes Facilities Management).
Tom Rocklin noted that student “mentoring” was an issue that has been re-assigned back to the SIT. Rod Lehnertz noted that the UI was participating with Iowa City and Coralville in engaging a consultant to study the area student housing demographics. Laura McLeran reviewed the new Path Forward website that recently went live. Comments and suggestions for the website were solicited.
The Team meeting adjourned at 11:04 a.m.
