The Path Forward–Operations Team (OT) met on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017, at 1:08 p.m. in the Lucas-Dodge Room (#256) of the IMU. Team members in attendance were: Rod Lehnertz, Bruce Harreld, Laura McLeran, Tom Rocklin, Don Szeszycki, Lena Hill, Georgina Dodge, Erin Brothers, Sarah Vigmostad, John Laverty, Cheryl Reardon, Steve McGuire, Steve Fleagle, Alec Scranton, Anh Ngo, Grant Jerkovich, Andrew Namanny, and Ted Yanecek.
The minutes of the Jan. 11, 2017, meeting were distributed along with the meeting agenda.
Rod Lehnertz welcomed new team member Grant Jerkovich (GPSG—College of Pharmacy) who will be replacing Anh Ngo. Rod provided an update on current campus issues including FY 2017 budget and appropriations reductions, and the development of a new university budgeting model.
Subcommittee reports were received. Georgina Dodge (Diversity & Inclusion) reported on an event organized by OT member Lena Hill that was held the previous evening (Feb. 13) at 102 Church Street. Steve McGuire indicated the Student Mental Health subcommittee would be reporting to the full OT at the March meeting. Andrew Namanny (Safety on Campus) reported on a student initiative to address campus lighting concerns. Andrew (Sustainability) also noted an effort by the Tippie College of Business to implement a composting program utilizing the resources/facilities at Burge Hall. Rod Lehnertz responded to a question regarding the drinking water quality standard notification that was sent campus-wide and reviewed a current project at the UI water plant to install a reverse osmosis system. Laura McLeran (Communications) reported on a new video in development to address student debt and tuition, and reviewed the updated Path Forward website. Cheryl Reardon distributed a report from the Human Resources Teams outlining membership, initial activities, and next steps. Tom Rocklin noted Food Truck policies were nearly complete.
